How does TPI at the Bourne End Golf Hub Work?

STEP 1: A full TPI assessment

The starting point is to get a full TPI assessment completed with Caroline.  This takes around an hour and a half and consists of 16 different exercises to test your body's ability to swing a golf club.  A little time is also spent analysing your swing with this assessment in mind.

STEP 2: Get setup on the TPI app

The TPI app allows you to see your TPI test results along with any routines Caroline has set out.  These routines will often be a mixture of fitness, flexibility, and golf exercises.  You also get a golf fitness handicap, which is a benchmark for your body's ability.

STEP 3: Identify if further help is required

Sometimes further help is required to get the best performance from your golf swing, with TPI there are 2 further routes which can be followed.  Personal Training and Physiotherapy.  We have teamed up with 2 local TPI-certified professionals who offer these services if deemed necessary.

Lorraine Chaing - Physiotherapist

Lorraine Chiang is a dedicated physiotherapist with over two decades of experience in the field. She began her career in 2001 after qualifying in the Philippines and later relocated to the UK. Since then, Lorraine has worked in various hospitals across the UK, gaining extensive experience in orthopaedics and multiple aspects of physiotherapy.

Her passion for musculoskeletal health led her to specialise in this area, particularly focusing on sports injuries. Inspired by her exposure to the golfing community, Lorraine trained with the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) in 2009. She holds the unique distinction of being the only physiotherapist in the UK with Level  Three Junior Coaching and Level Three Medical Professional qualifications from TPI.

Currently, Lorraine practices at Scorpio Clinics in Virginia Water, where she conducts TPI screenings for golfers. During these sessions, she assesses clients' medical histories, current conditions, and any concerns, followed by thorough physical testing. If needed, she recommends and carries out further medical screenings for specific joints.

In addition to her assessments, Lorraine provides clients with tailored corrective exercise programs and manual therapy to aid in their recovery and enhance their performance.

STEP 4: Play better golf

Using a combination of technical and physical work by adapting your swing and exercise routines to improve your golf swing around how your body moves will result in better, pain-free, golf on the course.  From here, you can follow up with lessons to further improve.  It's also worth occasionally carrying out additional TPI assessments to see if improvements have been made to your golf fitness handicap or if more work is required.
